Our breeders will gladly use the traditional Peruvian methods for raising and training of Pasos.

Foals and young horses will be accustomed to people and halter. Working on the ground and with a longe(?) are the base to promote their natural gate and to exercise the horse at an early stage. Good behaviour and discipline are taught at the same time.

One will only start to ride Paso Peruanos at +/- 4 years of age and using the Peruvian or Columbian bosal. The bosal will teach the horse to move in a good gate under the rider and to find its new equilibrium. The raising of the neck, activation of its rear and the tölt will come together. This bosal-phase will take +/- 1 year.

After this, the 4-rein phase will start. Together with the bosal the horse will get used to the Peruvian bit. The more comfortable the horse gets with these 4-reins, the more emphasis will be put on the bit, until the bosal does not need to be used anymore.

A well-raised Paso can be ridden one handed with almost invisible rein and weight aids. The slight changes in weight of the rein will be sufficient to create a reaction of the horse.

The fascination is not only the horse itself but also this very soft way of riding, which is such a pleasant difference with what one sees nowadays too often with the English way of riding.
